Freezer meals/ stock pile
Freezer meals/ stock pile
Are any of you big cooks (or not lol) like me who plan to make meals for your family and freeze them ahead of time? Since we surely will be down for the count for some period of time regardless of either a c section or vaginal delivery?

I just did a freezer meal party with my girlfriends & prepped: roast chicken with onions, meatloaf, marinated beef for burritos, sweet potato enchiladas, marinated pork loin, & jambalaya. I plan on trying to put together a pan or two of stuffed shells, banana bread, and smoothie bags before lo comes but no urgency if I don't get to it!

I'm freezing bags of casserole vege that I'll cut up.
With my daughter I froze a few date and nut rolls which came in handy for unexpected guests.
Lasagne
Fish cakes
Beef and barley soup for my lunches
I'm also stocking up on pantry and paper goods to make life easier after

I made a super good tater tot taco casserole and froze it, i plan to make and freeze:
chicken Taquitos(2 family servings)
Lasagna (2 family servings)
Buffalo chicken rolls (1 family serving)
Enchiladas(1 family serving)
Chicken, broccoli, and rice casserole(1 family serving)
and we will get some frozen pizzas and stuff. I like to cook so i don't need to make too much ahead of time but a few meals incase things come up would be nice.

I haven't made any yet, but am also planning on prepping some freezer meals just in case. Sounds like a good idea to stock up on the dry goods too!

I have stockpiled food, detergent, toilet paper and other stuff, but I haven't cooked any freezer meals yet because I've been so exhausted. I need to though.

Hey ladies, how long do your meals last frozen? And how do you package them? Freezer bags only? Any tips for that.
Awesome meal ideas- so happy I posted this lol. I'm adding The Mexican dishes instead of the Mac n cheese and adding the broccoli cheese bake too! Thanks!

I've never made freezer meals before but what I have made so far are in foil containers and freezer bags, I'm hoping the freezer meal in the foil container is good when it's time to eat it and not freezer burnt. ?

So right now we are eating one freezer meal per week until baby comes & I am trying to also make a double batch of freezable recipes when possible to replenish stock. For example we had oven baked pork tenderloin sandwiches tonight. I hammered out the extra tenderloins, froze with layer of wax paper between & froze extra buns as well. My goal is to have about 10 in there still when lo comes of varying portion sizes in the event I have to feed visitors. (Not counting smoothie bags & breads) I double ziploc bagged them with label in between layers of what it is, date, how to cook, & any extra ingredients needed. We will eat them all within 2-3 months. But we don't have a deep freeze (which keeps longer). My goal is to truly supplement each week & make my life some nights a tad easier with three kids 5 & under & a hubby who works 60-70hrs each week. Hope this helps!

Question Ladies - when you stock pile do you fully cook and freeze like the lasagna and chilli etc or just freeze the prepped food?

For lasagna for example I am cooking he sauce and putting it together but not cooking the layered dish until it comes time. But most things i make are fully cooked
