medicine help

So I was prescribed 50 mg sertraline. I am afraid to take it because I am 4 months pregnant. My ob said there aren't many risks because I'm already in my second trimester and babys already done majority of the major organ developing. But I am afraid to take it still I hear a lot of bad things about meds. Should I trust my ob. I have real problems with depression with post partem on top of that so I didn't realize how bad I'd gotten and I went to my doctor to ask for help and they prescribed me the meds. I need advice. Any personal experiences?

I am on 75mg of Effexor and have been prescribed this medication for over 10 years. My doctors were wary because ssris MIGHT cause withdraws at birth, but I did my own research and concluded that there is so solid studies that suggest a negative impact on the fetus. Certainly for my own mental health I knew I could not go without them. I tried to wean down a little and I was miserable: crying, not eating, nothing was fun and I was in a dark hole. And what is definitely worse for my baby? Not taking care of my own self, or being stabilized on my meds? There are a lot of scary "reports" out there that these meds cause autism and all of these disorders that have no definite link to anything. I turned to reading into real studies of women on antidepressants that did not prove any major defects. I find that doctors will always side with the "better safe than sorry" route, but in my case that just wasn't the right advice. I don't know what the future holds, but I'm 27 weeks and have had no complications thus far.
