Membrane stripping at 38 weeks.

No I had mine done Wednesday at 38 weeks and nothing either, no cramping or spotting. ?

I have mine this coming Tuesday. Hoping baby will come first but happy to hear it's not painful. I know another mom who had hers yesterday at 38 weeks and had her baby a few hours later.

Were you dilated at all before? I’ve heard you need to be a little bit at least for drs to do it. Is that true?

I got mine done Wednesday and I’ve been having contractions since last night. The first day I didn’t have cramping or barely any spotting. They’re kinda getting consistent now but I’m really just in a lot of pain. I wanna go in but the 5-1-1 rule doesn’t consistently stay. So frustrating. I didn’t feel different until yesterday. I had my bloody show so I was hoping something would happen.

I was dilated to 3.5cm when I got mine done. I heard some dilation is needed as well to get in there to do the sweep.

Thanks ladies for the replies...Yes I am 2cm dilated, I hear you have to be dilated in order to perform a membrane sweep...I'm keeping my fingers crossed, maybe contractions will start :) someone mentioned it can take up to the first 24 hours to take in effect

Good to know! Thanks ladies. I am only a fingertip dilated so I guess a sweep isn’t an option just yet

I hear that women still get sweeps being a fingertip dilated. As long as your open I think your doctor can do it

With my second child, she was 4 days late. My ob stripped mine and I ended up going into active labor that same night. Only had a six hour labor with her. Hope all goes well for you.
