We use the first lot you put up too Bashy, some of the second. Never heard peddy for petrol, sounds almost like a pedo eek. We just say Goon for casks of wine.

lmao yes, you just may need to Emma hahaha

I love that a lot of these manage to get even more shortened where I am ?

-arv for arvo

-cob for cobber

-chockers for chock a block

- dag for daggy

- dodge for dodgy

- veg for relax

- olds for oldies

And then the newer slang terms like

- nob for d**k head

- peddy for petrol (or gas in America)

- grog for alcohol

- goony for cask wine

Lol. Such a civilised country we are

daggy, durry, servo, bottle'o, mate, tucker, knackered, brekkie, crook and dodgy is what I say a lot and my family. We don't say things like sheila or "g'day mate" though.

I'm australian born and raised. Some of these i've never heard ? i'm only 20 though.

Most of our slang comes from our english ancestors I think Caitlyn :)

Different huh Chelsea. Amazing sometimes with the differences in lingo etc. I get confused with other countries too though. Mostly I quickly google so no one realises I'm just a poor old aussie trying to keep up hahahaha

Doesn't help when they get a Kiwi to play an Aussie in a movie. I'm like wtf man! They don't sound like us ??
