Finally Got answer's to why i Haven't ovulated or Concieved ?
So went today for my blood results and ultrasound reviews and my ob has confirmed I have pcos and put me on birth control pills to regulate my period whitch I'm starting on the first of next month, and he also prescribed metformin 500mg 2× a Day To help with the pcos I'm guessing???? And then on my way out he tells me my blood work showed a slight elevation on my thyroids so he gave me Levothyroxine 0.05mg 1x day to help with that ...... Anyone have any experience with any of this? Any advise would be greatly appreciated ♥️
Did the metformin cause bright red bleeding like a period? I'm only on day 3 of them
I'm not gonna be actively trying until after I get my thyroid problem fixed but thank you Angie
@Singlemomma I did and being that I was on the IUD for 1yr1/2 and then had one period after that forced with birth control pills he wants me to have a few periods before putting me on any meds he said
Thank You So Much I Will Definitely Do So I'm Sure I'll Have Lots Of Questions Along The Way
It will make you shed your lining but not ovulate. Progesterone is recommended when you want to make a baby because it does the same thing without prohibiting ovulation and conception. Clomid makes you ovulate in the first place. I did it for 3 cycles and then started getting my period more regularly. Eventually it came every 35-38 days and I ovulated too. I'd talk to your doctor about that. Did you tell him your goal was to conceive? Because that's why my doctor didn't put me on bc.
High fats and metformin will make the poop worse but in general it just takes a couple weeks for the body to adjust to the change.
That's good that he's following up on it. We didn't find out I had definite thyroid issues until I was already pregnant with my son. I was 8 weeks when they put me on meds and my dosage wasn't right until 20 weeks. But everything turned out fine!
With my current pregnancy I was able to conceive without thyroid meds even though my levels were a bit off. We had taken me off of the meds because I kept becoming overmedicated (levels on the opposite end of normal). Then once I got pregnant in January we put me back on the thyroid meds. Again, I became overmedicated but my dosage is currently correct for once and I feel great! It can be a lot of trial and error.
Hopefully your experience goes more smoothly than mine! Mine has been a rollercoaster for about 3 years now. Dm me anytime with questions.
He wants me to go back in about 3 months to do blood work to see if the meds helped it out.. how was it for you?
Thank You Ladies So much! I Hope I Can Get My Thyroid Levels Down First Before Anything Else he Said They Were Just A Itty Bitty Tinny Past Normal Levels.... The birth control I asked him the same thing, wouldn't it make it hard to convince after? He said no being that I don't ovulate already it's not gonna do anything different for me it's just gonna help me she'd my lining every month how my boys suppose to .... I'm doing Herbalife and eats low carbs and high protein so hopefully that helps as well
I agree with singlemama. The metformin absolutely kills my stomach. Definitely lots of poops accompanied by stomach cramps, but I’ve only been taking it for like a week and things are starting to get better. I’ve noticed my second dose doesn’t upset my stomach as much. Type2 diabetes, or prediabetes is really common with women who have pcos so metformin is given to help if we might have issues with insulin resistant, which can cause us to gain weight because from what I understand it’s harder for your body to break down carbs.
About the birth control .. I don’t think it’ll help either. I’m not a dr so I don’t really understand their reasoning behind this method. When you have a period on birth control it isn’t your body’s own doing, it’s not because you ovulated... it’s just a withdraw bleed. So taking bcp doesn’t seem like it’ll fix anything, only make it harder once you stop.
Hopefully the thyroid medicine and metformin are what you need and it’ll be easy once you stop the birth control though! Gl!
Birth control only helps with the PCOS symptoms while you're on it. It won't help you trying to conceive and likewise will not correct your PCOS when you stop. Clomid and progesterone will help you conceive. Metformin is also helpful for most women but be prepared to poop a LOT in the first few weeks.
I'd look into a good diet as well. A lot of PCOS can be controlled by a low carb diet. Many sufferers swear by Keto but I was never that intense.
I had the same problem too. My husband and I were married for 7 years and we are trying 3 years ago, but no luck. So went to Dr., got my blood test and found out I have pcos. Prescribed me with metformin same dosage as yours. He found out also that I have higher level of insulin as well as testosterone. It’s been 2 months since I went to Dr. and since I took metformin I lost almost 20 lbs which he suggested me to do. So hopefully I can get a good result.
Sounds good thank you so much!
