That's your dad you can use it if you want. Both my brothers honored my grandpa by naming their sons samuel. One nephew has it as a middle name and the other has it as his 1st name

My SIL named her sons middle name Donald after my husbands dad. Well he died in a car accident before our son was born and we named him Donald Maurice Joseph (his dads exact name) even tho she used it as a middle name. And we are having another boy, and we are naming him William Joseph. So they will both have Joseph to honor his dad, which is almost one of my husbands middle names. So I say go for whatever you want! You should honor him in any way you want. People think we are crazy to have named our son Donald but we are SO proud to have named him after his grandpa he doesn't have the chance to know. And still want this new baby to also be connected! My dad passed on 04/08. His name is Edward William, my brother is named after him as Edward William. My SO's name is Matthew William and his father's name is William. William is strong on both sides of the family. We are naming our son Matthew William as well after my SO (which was decided before we even conceived a child) but now with the pretense that my SO and both our fathers will be honored; the name just means more and is more strong to us now. I could care less if my brother gets offended, I will name my son as I see fit. You name your son whatever your heart feels most happy with. You are honoring your father, no one else. ❤️
