Im pretty sure that a vaginal is 6 weeks, csection is 8. That is just the max your doctor can sign you out for. If you qualify for FMLA then you can take up to 12 weeks regardless of the type of birth

6 weeks for vaginal and 8 weeks for C-section. Then you can go on bonding leave for another 6 weeks depending on where you live. I’m in California.

Depends where you are abd the benefits tour company offer. In the UK it's 6 months paid (Not full pay) and 6 months unpaid regardless of type of birth.

I don't think the way you give birth has any bearing on how long your maternity leave is. That's usually determined by your company and FMLA policy. What it does determine is how many weeks of short term disability payments you receive. 6 for vaginal and 8 for cesarean.

If you qualify for fmla you get 12 unpaid weeks no matter the type of birth, maternity leave is a misnomer, leave is dependent on your company policy. Fmla can be used for more than just birth, youd be surprised how many ppl dont qualify.

What is FMLA ?

Here in canada you can get 12 months with a certain percentage of pay or 18 months with a smaller percentage of pay ( with lots of employers who will top you up to your full pay)

Short term disability and FMLA are different. You want to apply for both: short term disability so that you can continue being paid, and FMLA to reserve your job. I went back 2 months after c-section because legally I could take 3 months but financially I couldn't. Checks stopped coming so mama had to go back to work (before I was ready I might add). It may also depend on what state you are a resident of and your job's particular protocol. Not totally sure about that but something to definitely check with HR department about.

In NC and at my job if you have natural birth then it’s 6 weeks and if you have c section it’s 8 weeks.

Average time off is between 6 and 12 weeks. Usually your doctor can recommend and I always take 8 weeks.
