Desperate - help FTM
I don't know what to do!!! Baby is almost 4 days old. My boobs have been hard rock since yesterday. I have breast implants (don't know if it affects anything), I can't make baby latch correctly cause I can't grab my nipples and areola. I don't know if I'm gonna be able to give her enough milk. :'( in so desperate. She has enough wet diapers today 8 so far. So I guess yes she's getting colostrum?? I went to the shower and try to massage with hot water but milk is not coming out. My boobs get a little soft when she's breastfeeding. But after 1 hour they are hard again :( :( I need words, tell me what did you do and how's everything going to be... this new mom will appreciate all your support... I feel like a failure. I don't know how to burp baby properly either :( tomorrow I have her first pediatrician appointment and I hope they don't tell me she lost more weight. I'm so sad, desperate... please help me with words and your stories. God bless you all.

This may not seem helpful, but it is. The first 6-8 weeks of breastfeeding can be hell! I cried everyday for 6 weeks, and worried I was failing.
If she's having wet diapers - she's getting it! Massage constantly, don't let hard lumps form. I'm not sure about implants.
Do you have a laceration consultant you can call? If need be, Google/YouTube! I did it all the time when I wasn't sure I was doing with breastfeeding. Good luck!

I have implants but that never happened to me. I know they say not to pump at first but maybe that would help ease some of the discomfort.

When my boobs would get like that in the beginning it would also be hard for my son to latch. It happened to me when my milk came in. Try and get a little milk out so its easier to latch. Also maybe a nipple shield will help baby latch. Sorry I'm not much help. But stick through it. It gets easier!

That's normal and a very good sign. I mean it sucks for you but baby has all she needs :)

I had the same problem.
Baby couldn't latch because my breasts were so enlarged. I was stressed and upset that I wasn't feeding my DD. My nurse recommended a nipple shield to breastfeed. It worked amazing! Baby gained weight only after 5 days from being born. I would take a warm shower, wear the shield, express some milk and feed the baby. I would keep massaging my breasts to soften the lumps during the feed. She would feed 15 mins on each side.
Afterwards, I would pump 5 mins on each breast to relieve the engorgement. Then I would soothe it with cabbage leaves for 20 mins. I only did this twice and the engorgement went away! Now my milk is regulated and producing properly for DD!
Don't leave the cabbage leaves in for too long and don't do it more than three times or it will dry you out!

Nursing is hard at first, but so worth it! It's actually great for your supply to let her comfort nurse as much as you can.
Personally, I bed shared and nursed dd while lying on my side so I could get some rest.
