Chronic Hypertension
Hello, just hoping for some insight or words of wisdom. I have been diagnosed with chronic hypertension and am currently 35 weeks, 3 days. Up until last Thursday I had been taking 200mg of Labetelol twice a day and it was keeping my blood pressure relatively consistent (around 130ish/90ish). At my non-stress test last Thursday my blood pressure had skyrocketed and was consistently reading 160/106. They've checked my urine many times and I am not spilling any protein, blood work all came back as normal, and am I not having any signs of HELLP syndrome. My doctor decided to add Nifedipine (Procardia) to my current medicines and at my blood pressure check this afternoon I was still reading as 142/110 ? I know it's only been a couple days but it doesn't seem like it's doing anything. I guess I was wondering if anyone knows what the next step might be. How soon might they make me deliver? And will I be able to possibly avoid a c-section? Thanks in advance for any responses!!

I also have chronic hypertension and taking labetalol 200mg 2x a day. But at my last appointment my BP was 150/81 my Dr is saying that is just gonna be normal for me. But if it goes over 160 is when he gets concerned. But because of my hbp he's going to be inducing me at 38 weeks. Ftm so I don't have much advice, but hope this helps.

@JanaRazo, thanks for your response! From what I have read online it seems like 38 weeks is pretty common to induce at from chronic hypertension. My doctor was actually pretty okay with my numbers hovering around 140/90, but since they've started increasing she seems more concerned. I have another NST on Thurs and an ultrasound on Sun. so hopefully everything continues to check out pretty normal. I am okay with him coming early, but I guess I just wanted him to bake as much as possible in there.
