Detergent
Okay so i know there is already a post circulating around about baby detergents but this post is regaurding more for my husband.
If I were you I would continue to do laundry separate. Wash the baby clothes separate from your clothes. My husband also does hvac and sometimes his stuff is so dirty I wash his by itself. I use tide or gain laundry detergent, as well as a fabric softener for the rinse cycle such as downy, or snuggle. While drying I use dry sheets by snuggle or gain who ever is on sale.
I wash my husband's work clothes with jeans and throw oxyclean in if they are extra dirty. It's scented. Essential oils are another option. I mix that with Ecos unscented laundry detergent and put some on my drier balls or a dry rag in the drier sometimes. I wash all my clothes and kids/baby clothes with the Ecos together (except for jeans).
My husband does paving/asphalt & comes home caked in sticky, stinky crud lol...so I usually presoak his clothes in a vinegar/baking soda/water blend in the washer & then drain that...then use regular strength detergent & scent booster on all his work clothes.
I wash my son & i’s clothes separate with a free & clear detergent & usually wipe down the washer beforehand if I wash my husbands stuff first.
I use Eco Detergent, it's clear and has natural smells, because it has a coconut base you don't need fabric softener. For strong smelling clothes I add baking soda to the washer. My husband has many skin issues and I absolutely cannot use other products, this has worked great for us. Using vinegar also helps!
My husband is an electrician. He's usually on site before concrete is poured. He comes home sweaty and muddy some days. I always wash his work clothes separate from everyone because they need the extra strength.
I get a small bottle of Tide just for him.. and then I'll usually wash mine and hubs clothes before the kids. I'm going to also buy a small bottle of free and clear for baby for her first few months tho.
Ah.. mom life.
My husband is in construction and his clothes always smell like dirt and have gunk all over them. I wash his clothes separate in the same free and clear detergent as the kids. I usually do his last so i can then do a rinse cycle afterward before washing any regular clothes.
Like the other posters my husbands clothes get washed separate from mine and my son’s. I use tide or gain or whatever is on sale for him and fabric softener. I studied science in college and learned that fabric softener really isn’t that great for your clothes but it’s the only thing that makes his clothes smell nice.
Also - ditch the bounce sheets. You can get reusable wool dryer balls, it’s cheaper and healthier. You can add lavender essential oil, like one drop, to the dryer balls to help scent your laundry too.
