From very early on I noticed a few "red flags" with melinda and I did not listen to everyone that said "oh she is just learning and growing at her own pace, let it go and enjoy these short lived months!" After several more red flags I decided that it wasn't just as simple as going at her own pace anymore and I addressed my concerns to her pediatrician. I told him I want to do what I need to do to get the ball rolling. He agreed and so...here we are today!
She has been in early intervention for 8 months now. She has an occupational therapist and a special instructor that comes to our home twice a week. After a few months on a waiting list we finally got in to see a Developmental Pediatrician and he gave her a very early diagnosis for ASD. It is still way too early to truly diagnos and know exactly where she may be on the spectrum but he pretty much gave her that early diagnosis so that we can get a head start on other services. A couple that are very beneficial and crutial at this time. Soon she will be busy 5 days a week!
It has been a long road but slowly but surely we are learning together as a team! She is doing very well with everything and I am so proud of her! She loves all the attention and really loves adukt interaction. We are working on having her okay along side other kids, as she is very independent and doesn't interact with other children her age. There is a lot we are working on! : )
That's really interesting!! I always looked at your Instagram pics and she seemed like she was hitting the milestone so fast. I probably sound like a stalker, but I changed my user name. I'm erinkahl:). Harrison is a very independent kid. He likes to go to our play group and see his friends, but he is just starting to really play with them. Glad you are getting the therapies early!!
Well the thing is she did hit basically all of them around the time babies do! It wasn't until around a certain age I noticed the red flags out of nowhere. I really noticed it when she regressed with talking. They are thinking possibly high functioning autism. She isn't severe or anything. She makes outstanding eye contact and all. At one point she was even doing a couple things here and there that seemed advanced for a baby. It is so crazy how it all of a sudden was like I had a totally different baby.
And no I don't think you're a stalker ? oh hey!!!! Why did you change your name??
