Baptism/christening
Has anyone not done it yet? And also Melinda still does not have god parents! Haven't decided I am not close enough with anyone to feel comfortable
Court if my mom was alive this would have been done already! Ever since she passed we never went to church anymore. My fiancé doesn't go to church and only will go if someone's getting married lol. I only go to light a candle for my mom on Christmas and just from time to time when I feel I need too for myself to ease my mind!
I'm not religious at all, but my mom had me do a baby dedication at her church. It's like a Christian baptism. In her church being baptized is each persons choice. But basically dedicating them means giving them to god and saying you'll raise them to know God and teach them the bible. Personally I don't believe in it but I did it to please my mom lol yes I'm that daughter. Sorry guys
Update: I finally found a Catholic Church that will allow us to use the godparents we chose without confirmation papers! Finally! The pastor said they just ask on the application and expect you not to lie. Now I just need my parish to write a letter authorizing me to baptize my baby outside of my parish!
It depend on your parish. My parish is pretty laid back with the godparents. You can have one or two. They do not need to be married or even be catholic. You attend 2 meetings prior to the baptism. We did it back in July and I also loved that in my parish they make it a part of the mass. It's very special.
Well I am catholic but ever since my mom passed away when I was 13 I stopped going to church, honestly we all went because of her. And my fiancé doesn't go to church and actually he hates church so he made it very clear that this decision would be up to me. I wouldn't mind if she wasn't but being if I did and I would want to stick with the Catholic Church..not sure how strict it is??
We are having complications because my husbands friend doesn't have his confirmation papers and got confirmed in another country and Catholic Churches are very strict they want to see the paperwork for the godparents. We are trying to do it in December. Wanted it done much earlier but his mom and sister wouldn't have been able to make it.
I haven't baptized my son yet. We have had such a busy summer with weddings, showers, family visiting from Portugal and leaving on vacations. Also this month is extremely busy for is as well. So hopefully the next two months all the excitement will have calmed down. Lol. My sons godparents are my older sister who was also my maid of honor and my husbands brother. :)
We didn't do baptism. We have a baby blessing when baby is about 1-4 months and my hubby performed the blessing. Non of our children have good parents.
