Thrush.... how do you mamas deal with this?? I've been using the meds for a month now and it's still here...the meds are obviously not working ... what should I try.

Update: so we went to the doc and doc says it's almost gone and she is on 5more days of it. And I have to take the flusen...pill i don't remember what she called it. Hopefully this will end the thrush! Yay!!

Nystatin didn't do crap for us. Go back to the doc and get something else or use gentian violet. You can order on Amazon but make sure you dilute.

We've also been battling a massive case of thrush for over a month. We did two rounds of nystatin with no change. We did gentian violet, twice. No luck there. I am now on my third week of flucozinol oral pills and using viaderm ointment on my nipples after every feed. I also swab babies mouth with nystatin after every feed. I've been pain free for a couple days now and the sores are finally gone from babies cheeks. We had overgrowth and were passing it back and forth. Both you and baby need to be treated if you want to get rid of it. Or at least that's what's finally working for us. Oh, be sure to wash yourself after every feed and babes mouth. Sheets, clothes- wash in hot water often. Thrush is the devil!

Grapefruit seed oil nipped this in the butt for us in just 1-2 days!!

Mix a couple drops with water and put in baby's mouth and on your nipples a couple times a day.

Gentian violet (Amazon) diluted to .5% 2 times a day for 4 days in babies mouth and on your nipples. Let them air dry as much as possible and use organic/raw coconut oil instead of lanolin. Yeast multiply every 90 minutes so even using an antifungal ointment between the gentian violet will help. Organic coconut oil is a natural antifungal fighter. Make sure you boil bottles and paddies daily, and wash yours and babies clothes in hot water and dry on high heat or put them in the sun for 10 minutes. Get some acidophilus/probiotic vitamins too and take 2-3 a day. I broke up one of mine and would put a little on my hand and get it a little damp with water to put in my daughter's mouth. We had it for a straight month and all of this helped along with prescription. If they give you nystatin for her, cut the dose in half and give it every 3 hours.
