So many prayers being sent up for you! I was diagnosed with cancer (cervical) at the beginning of my pregnancy. It can be hard to say the words to yourself and especially to other people, but it's ok to be overwhelmed and everyone close to you will understand if you have trouble with the news. Don't be afraid to reach out to your support system if things get overwhelming, no one should have to go through a diagnosis alone! I hope everything goes great with your treatment and that soon this is just a distant memory!
Thank you ladies.
I do have the best support system. I have tons of people who will help and take care of me and the kids.
Im just hoping the iodine treatment is the worst of it.
There are a lot of unknowns until i meet with the oncologist.
Awe I'm so sorry to hear that. My step father and a good friend of mine both had thyroid cancer. Both had to get part of their thyroids removed then received an iodine treatment. I hope u get the right treatments and are feeling better soon. Feel free to pm me if u have any questions.
@frank there is a good possibility it would have. It was found when i went for my 6 week pp check after i had my now 20 month old daughter.
The nurse practitioner at the office was basically doing a thorough physical and felt my throat as well, and there was a small lump you mostly only feel when i swallowed.
She sent me for further testing, with an ent, that included an u/s and a needle biopsy. Initial findings were benign, but when i went for my follow up u/s, it had grown. We opted to just remove the right lobe of my thyroid, rather than continued monitoring, and im so glad we did.
I have a slightly more aggressive type, than what is typical for my age group, so who knows what could have happened.
Now, i go back to have the left half removed and will have to have a brief radiation treatment.
I have a friend that was diagnosed too. She was 19, beat the cancer completely at 22-23 (can't remember exactly) and about 6 months after her diagnosis, it spread like crazy, very very aggressive very fast. She is doing AMAZING now! She is about to be 25 and just graduated college to be a speech language pathologist- she was SO nervous about the possibility of losing her voice permanently during surgery (why she wanted to be a slp)
The treatment was hard on her and her family but she powered through. I hope everything goes well and they can take it out before it gets bad. ❤️??
Thank you ladies so much.
I believe its still early. I have to meet with an oncologist still to determine everything.
Im most upset, bc this will completely derail breastfeeding for me and my 9 week old. I still have time to enjoy it for now, but it will be ending much much earlier than i wanted.
I'm sorry! Prayers to you!
