This may be a dumb question.... ??

This may be a dumb question.... ??

But do you HAVE to call your doctor when you're in labor or when you go to the hospital?? I don't recall calling my doc when I had my first son... I am just dumbfounded when it comes to this question.

I was told to just go to the hospital and that once there they would call your doc. But its diff for every ob . So i wpuld just ask yours what they prefer next visit. Unless of course you think ur going into labour now then i would call the after hours number for ur ob and just ask . Thats what i did.

You go to the hospital and they call your dr to let them know you're staying and in labor.

I was told to call labor and delivery at my hospital before we left to make sure there's a room available for me to deliver in. Their busiest months are September and October for some reason. ?

ETA: my doctor is in the same hospital that I'm going to deliver at thankfully.

At both hospitals I've delivered at, they've always called my OB for me. I haven't heard of anyone having to contact their OB first

I went in and the hospital called my doctor. She was out of town though so I got the on call doctor ?

I have a midwife who will be delivering my baby. (She delivered my son last year as well).

I called her when I was in early labour to let her know then called her 12 hours later when I was ready to go to hospital. She called L&D for me and she met us there and delivered my son.

My clinic doesn't allow that. When you go into labor, you get whoever is on call, so it's recommended to meet all the doctors ahead of time
