It's hard for me to say whether the recovery was easier or faster because I've never had an epidural, but I did go have a shower when they were done with stitches and baby was being passed around. I walked to my room and then bathed my child standing. I felt pretty good afterwards. Hope that helps a little.

And may I ask how you couped with the pain?? I have a not so high but not low tolerance for pain. Lol i just don't want to tear like I did with my son, i had about 8 stitches.

Also I only had two stitches kegels and a good dr are your friend

I have a very high pain tolerance so I never got to the point of wanting an epidural. I did need stitches, but my son's shoulder got stuck coming out.

2 natural going for 3rd .

I was not induced don't know if that makes a difference. Delivered at 40+3 and 40+2

Currently 40+2 with 3rd. My Dr is nervous about me going past 41wks because he is already 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 lbs

1st was 8.1lb

2nd was 9lb So that sound about right for me. I just grow em big

Alot of it has to do with your mindset. I knew the pain would not last forever and each contraction brought me closer to meeting baby and as soon as baby came the pain was gone.

I was able to walk around immediately even having stitches . I also felt a type of natural high and odd energy type feeling. And like superwoman capable of anything. I equated that feeling with having to kept an extra eye on baby during the first critical days. Imagining had this been 100, 200 years ago I wouldn't be sitting in a safe climate controlled building. And would have to be aware of temperatures and wild animals attracted to the smell.

OK enough of my ramble

I went natural and within an hour after giving birth I was up and in the shower and even had a little stroll round the corner in the hospital to get something to eat, then after a good nights sleep when we came home the next day I felt back to my usual self just a little tender in the lady area.

I'll be honest with you, I actually wish I would have had the epidural. So many people told me not to take it because it causes long term back pain. Well I had my birth without it and ever since I've had back pain. It got bad one day that I went to the er and they said my back could have been misaligned during birth with all the pressure. But then again I'm scared of complications which doesn't happen all the time but I've heard that chances of c-section rise with epidural.
