Super fun day. Not
So today I had an early doctors appointment for my one hour glucose test. I drop my babies off at my ils because there's no school. I go out in all this awful snow just to fail my one hour test! How is that possible? Cutoff is 130 and my levels were 134. Ladies who've been through it, what comes next? There's no possible way for me to take the three hour test and not pass out. Is there an alternative?

I failed the one hour by 1 point and failed the 3 hour by quite a bit more. Sometimes they allow you to substitute a different drink/food for the regular one, but I don't think there's an alternative to the actual test. Blood work maybe?

There's no way I can get pricked four times and not physically pass out. With or without fasting. I nearly passed out just from the one stick today! I hate bloodwork. Plus my stupid iron levels are down again! I'm just not happy

Is it a fear of needles that's the problem? Ask them if you can lay down for the blood draws just in case. Then just take a few moments to recover.
Leenie·
No it's not fear of the needle itself. I already lay down when they do it. I'm anemic plus I have vertigo and fainting spells. I pass out nearly every time they do it then I get taken to the er "for monitoring"

Find out if there is any way they can place an iv catheter and have blood drawn from there for the test. One "poke", the catheter stays in for the test.
It's worth a shot.

How odd. I asked my midwife, last week, what the high cutoff number was and she said 140.

My doc allowed me to forgo the 3 hr test with #2 and just consider myself with GD again. I already had all the supplies and had been monitoring my levels for 2 weeks at that point though.
