"I would never do that!"

"I would never do that!"

What's one thing you said, going into parenting, that you would never do...but you actually do??

Same! I always said I wouldn't let them have screen time until older. Halfway through my pregnancy my two-year-old and my four-year-old each got their own tablets. I really needed to be able to just sit on the couch for a little while.

I said I would NEVER be the lady in the grocery store with a screaming baby! I always thought why don't they just leave them at home. Well life isn't that easy and my family has to eat just like everyone else's so I carry my screaming baby through the store pretty often ?

I'll never formula feed my baby. Yupp four months in realized breastfeeding wasn't working out. In fact it gave me awful anxiety and got in the way of me being a good mom. Now I just say as long as my baby is fed I'm happy.

I would never be the mom who goes in public looking like a mess, yup I've definitely gone to get a coffee a few mornings after being up with the baby all night looking homeless ?

I said I will never buy used toys for her - I'm little paranoid with used things for myself - but man she needs too many things and it's hit or miss with her - she has 3 used rock and play sleeper and 2 used babybjorn. And I feel no shame - they have been washed 5 times each before she used it.

I second Samantha and then add: I'd never let my kids look messy. Sometimes my daughter looks like I found her in a bin ??‍♀️

Emily, I've also said, I don't want to be that lady at a restaurant with a screaming baby....only been out to eat once with her. She did pretty good actually.

My list is too long ???

My sister in law had my nephew 17 months before I had my son. I would say to my parents “is she serious. I’ll never do that” like putting baby in a carrier to get house chores done for example

I so ate my words ?

My biggest is I swore I would never yell or raise my voice to my children. Both my parents were screamers and I swore that wouldn't be me... Damien is still little and adorable so he hasn't given me a reason to yell at him yet.. but my 12 year old tries my patience every single day... I swear he thinks it's fun.

Mine is pretty simple- pacifier. In the hospital I would have cut someone if they gave him one. After his dr recommending one for his lip n tongue tie I said ok. Now I'm thankful for the damn thing! It's another way I can soothe my son especially in awkward situations.

I agree with Patrycja though we have gotten tons of used stuff. I absolutely love it. We have more money for vacation ?my favorite app is letgo. We've gotten so much good stuff for free!!!

I said I’d never let him sleep in our bed. He never slept there all night. Only for about 2-3 hours. He would wake up around 5 or 6 for a feeding and I’d have a hard time getting him to sleep on his own. So I’d keep him next to me till he woke up for the day. It was the only way I could get him to sleep past 6.

We don’t do that anymore though. He is able to fall back asleep after his feeding and he sleeps till 7-8 on his own now.
