I have a mini crib also and my son out grew his a few months ago......and he's a big boy! He was born 10.2 pounds and is now 40 pounds and is a size 5t!
Yes it's literally just a mini crib lol. They're the exact same just smaller in size. A regular crib is 28 inches wide and 52 inches long. A mini crib is 24 inches wide 38 inches long.
I'm sure you'd be able to use a regular crib longer since it is longer in length.. but they do have the convertible mini cribs which you can make into toddler beds as well just like the regular cribs.
I had a standard crib for my first. He was tall and almost the length of his crib by age 2. Never bothered to use it as a toddler bed. We just put my son in a double bed instead. We're limited on space this time so I'm using a mini crib given to me by a neighbour. I figure I'll be mostly cosleeping anyway but I hope the new baby is down with the mini crib.
It's more value for your money if you go straight to large cot. Most turn into toddler beds for when old enough. No need to buy a separate bed.
However, I've somewhat gone against my own advice this time. I actually have a Chicco Lullago (bassinet) and a large cot for when baby is born. The reason I did that is we were not sure when we would have a move in date for our new home, and there is a big difference in terms of space and room. My old house was quite small, and there would have been a squeeze for a full cot, so I got the bassinet for initial use.
Thankfully, we are in our new home now. We will make use of the Chicco though, and move her into the cot when she is ready for her own room.

Mini crib is a smaller version of a regular sized crib. I am getting a mini, it's bigger than a bassinet and we can use it much longer.

We have a small nursery, so I'm thinking about the mini. But it's just the size that's different??

Can the baby use a mini crib for the same amount of time as a standard crib?? Do they outgrow it quicker??

I've seen they have convertible mini cribs too. So it will grow as your baby grows into a bigger kid too.
