Are you mamas feeding your little ones things beside the purée? Like puffs or other "real" foods? If so, what kind?

I am giving Harper the Gerber apple strawberry puffs, and the strawberry yogurt melts also. I break them both up into like 5 pieces (I'm too paranoid she will choke to do them any smaller Haha). I only give her about 3-5 at a time as a little snack. Sometimes at home, but mostly when we are at the grocery store and she is hungry to hold her over. She loves them, and chews with her back gums like she is suppose to. I like the puffs, and yogurt melts because they dissolve.
EDIT:: I plan on starting to put them on her high chair, and encourage her to pick them up soon. She is almost 7 months so I wanna start some finger foods like mashed up peas, green beans etc.

My lo eats puffs and can almost pick them up on his own. I've also served him diced roasted sweet potatoes and he did fine with them.

We aren't doing purees at all. He's had avocado, carrots, and apples so far.
He doesn't seem terribly interested in food though.

Baby mum mums

I'm pretty sure my child is ready to pick things up. I want him to start to explore but I'm scared he will choke :(

Yep. My lo isn't a fan of baby food, so we do "real" food when we can. She will also eat puffs, yogurt melts, and the mum mum crackers. You can break those things in half and place one in your lo's mouth where her molars will be. That encouraged chewing for my lo. I did (and still do) watch her like a hawk in case she chokes.

The mum mums aren't to hard?

No mum mums aren't hard. He actually loves them with his teething.

We tried a bite of BBQ chicken tonight and a small bite of mashed up baked potato.

Jnurse are you talking about the baby mum mum rice rusks? It's like a wafer?

Yes

Yes. Enslee started eating last week when she was showing signs of readiness. We don't do purées. She's had: avocado, potato, sweet potato, Thai curry soup, homemade vegetable alphabet soup, yogurt, eggs, tofu, toast/bread, organic Mac and cheese, banana, crackers, garbanzo beans, watermelon, rice, chicken, and I think that's about It. Really whatever we eat she eats. These are all whole foods. Not tiny itsy bitsy pieces. She bits pieces off. Yes she chews. No she doesn't choke. Yes she's gagged. But gagging is NOT choking. She's also eaten the yogurt bits and mum mums and those things

@jseiv how old is she?My baby is 6 months. Just started gerber. He wants to eat what we eat. Scared of giving him something that will make him sick.

@monis84. She will be 6 mos on Tuesday. We don't do gerber or any purées. We do BLW which is baby led weaning.
