Got to agree with you here, I didn’t know I was in labour I thought it was BH (I hadn’t had any) until I rang the hospital because they were every two minutes for 30 seconds and they told me to come in and I was 7cm and they popped my waters

I don't understand why so many people have got nasty over this, some people don't know they're in labour, some have horrific labour's, just like some don't know they're pregnant, saying that because some have horrible labour pains that everyone will is stupid. That's like saying because one person had a massive bump all there pregnancies that everyone else will when in fact some people hardly show at all. No ones pregnancies or labour's are the same. My ex sister in law didnt know she was pregnant or in labour and ended up giving birth on the sofa.

I don't get why so many people have taken offense to this?? Personally my contractions were horrific, but a close friend of mine said she wasn't in much pain until she was ready to push? 🤷

@michellewiggins1985, @x-t-x, even when I was In full labour The midwife didn’t believe me this was when I was induced I was 8cm by the time she did check me and she popped my waters and baby was born some ppl just handle the pain better than others that why some of us don’t actually feel that we are in labour xxx

@mariapb, no one was offended by someone sayin you’d know, I certainly wouldn’t be lol if anyone was I haven’t seen anyone say it to be fair. But as you say you wouldn’t be offended by someone saying ‘you’d know you was in labour’ I wouldn’t be offended by someone saying what @michellewiggins1985, said about not always knowing the start of it.

You’re not wrong in what you’re saying but I don’t think people say that you’ll know when you’re in labour as a bad thing. Most people will know, not all, but most. Like I said people give advice from their experiences.

But not every labour is text book...You can also be in slow labour or be getting cramps and it leading to nothing.

Most people assume your waters have to break to be in labour...

I see posts all the time on facebook people asking about pains and wondering if they are in labour or not...

Even if you are a first time...5th time mum...theres times when you wont know... Obviously you will know if a babies head pops out lol...or you need to push...

But even so theres no saying how your labour will be...how long it will be...how intense it will be.

Early labour can just be twinges...cramps...tightenings...doesnt have to be extremely painful at all...

I think thats what @michellewiggins1985 point is...

So its why most people do ask...not everyones labour starts off full blown or painful...

I wasn’t trying to argue with anyone on this post, I just think that the majority of people will know when they’re in labour so telling someone they’ll know probably isn’t meant in a bad way.

@x-t-x, honestly I didn’t think this post was that serious. I wouldn’t be offended over someone saying you’ll know when you’re in labour but that’s just me. I didn’t have pain relief either but I could tell the pain I was having was different from normal pain. Everyone is different though as you said.

@mariapb Well my sisters friend...is a teacher...one of her students sisters.....went to the toilet thinking she just needed a shit...She gave birth on the toilet...plus she didnt know she was pregnant!

@mariapb, I think @michellewiggins1985, means when you first start goin into labour it can easily make you not sure. How many times have people thought they was goin into labour but weren’t. My braxton hicks never hurt me but I’ve heard friends say they found theirs hurt at times. She’s not sayin all the way through labour you don’t feel a thing. I personally didn’t know I was in to labour to begin with, I just had a stomachache and my waters broke. Weren’t till the next day I felt bad pains and that was not long before I was told I could push. I personally didn’t find labour as painful as what my best mate says she did, she needed gas & air where as I didn’t feel the need for it. I’m not sayin it wasn’t painful but I didn’t feel the need or want any pain relief.

@michellewiggins1985, yeah I get that but saying it isn’t wrong either because most people will know at some point. A baby hanging out of your vagina is a sure giveaway. 😂😂

I had period cramps throughout my pregnancy...

When it came to my waters breaking...I had no contractions for a few hours...

Then I got twinges/tightenings...nothing major.

18 hours had past...still at home (had gone to the hospital earlier to be checked...they just sent me home and i was to be induced the next day if labour wasnt active)

Anyway I went in 7 hours or so before I was to be induced... put in the monitor... I was laying down and talking to my mum at this point...messaging people here :)

Then I got given a sweep... Which made the contractions speed up... I felt pressure/tightening...and cramps inbetween contractions...

Within and hour or so I had gone from 1cm-8cm on nothing...

I then got offered Gas and air...taken to a delivery suite... where i slept inbetween contractions...even Mayas dad slept 😂

Came of gas and air for pushing..pushed an hour. But yeah anyway Maya arrived.

She was also back to back (i heard back to back labour was bad)

Ive honestly had period cramps 1000% worse than labour! X

With my first 2 I didn’t know I was in labour with my first I just thought I had bellyache then my waters went then I new and my 2nd I thought the same went to hospital cos my mum said I should I was 7cm and he was born 45mins after I got to the hospital lol the last 3 I was induced with xx

I’d never tell someone their in labour or not as everyone’s different. I had really bad acid reflux one night when I was about 33/34weeks and I was in so much pain I thought I was in labour lol I’d never had acid reflux before that night 🙈 for me personally labour was a total walk in the park compared to that night 😂 xx

I'm sorry love but I think your chatting through your arse tbh, yes every body's pain levels are different but believe me you no when your having contractions, it's not like you was constipated and needed a shit is it.. Even the smallest of contractions are agony believe me I know I've had four my youngest at 16 ..

I was the same, I was having twinges on/off for weeks was nearly 4cm dilated when I went for my 41 week appointment. The night I went into labour I just woke up to a punch from lil man and what felt like a stomachache I went down stairs for 5mins, sat on the sofa and stood up and my waters broke 😂 if they hadn’t of gone I’d prob gone back to bed lol and to be honest I didn’t really feel any real pain till the next day when I was closer to having him, even then it was bearable, didn’t bother with gas & air lol. Like you say everyone has different pain levels x
