How old is he? was he prem or poorly at birth? If not I'd get some more advice and opinions from other professionals. If baby was born healthy and at term there's no need to wake them in the night you're just disturbing their developing body clock. He'll wake when he's hungry get some sleep! xx

No Hun he was overdue and he is 4 weeks old had a few complications at birth his heart stopped inside of me and I needed an emergency C section but once he was out he was healthy the health visitor told me prolonged sleep in babies can cause cot death at their brains are not stimulated xx

I've always been told unless they're poorly (when my youngest was born she was v jaundice and needed waking) to let them sleep. my advice is to ask someone else at the clinic or gp to check. I've never ever woken mine. My youngest slept 10 hours once about 2!weeks old, i panicked but my HV said she just needed it and to get some sleep! xx

I got 2 different opinions when I asked my midwife when she came out to take my stitches out she said never wake a sleeping baby and that's what Iv always been told and Hurd but when the HV said it can cause cot death obv as a FTM I freaked out and set an alarm to wake him and feed him im going to speak to his GP at his 6 week check up and ask them what they think because if I let him he will sleep through the entire night and has done since he was born ( with the exception of a few rough nights which is to be expected) his weight isn't a problem as he is gaining weight nicely so I might just cherish the good sleep xxx

I would just let him sleep as long as he likes. When he's hungry he will wake up. Jasmin slept through about 9hours from about 8/9 weeks. It's scary at first coz you think they should've woken by now but then you realise how refreshed you feel after a good nights sleep haha

Never wake a sleeping baby at night ? my little for girl is 5 days old she cluster feeds before bed then sleeps till morning, no chance would I wake her up thru the night if she's happy sleeping! X

Your hv needs a word then, waking them up every 6 hours to feed them will not prevent cot death! If that was the case then we would all be told to do that! Stupid woman!

I never woke my son during the night, by 7wks he was sleeping through & would have a full 10oz bottle before bed, if their hungry he will let u know! Xx

I know the feeling my lg was born small and didn't cry for the first month so had alarms every 3 hours to feed her, I ended up to tired one night that I slept through but she was fine. I'm sure at 4 weeks it will be okay that's when I started letting my lg feed on demand x

If you're worried get a sensor mat but yeah never wake a sleeping baby and enjoy the sleep! Xx

I wouldn't wake a baby unless needed for medical reasons and to be honest I'd take no notice of health visitors mine when i had my son in 2009 wondered what we'd do for milk etc when going away on holiday to india for his 1st birthday yeah like they don't have babies over there do they stupid woman she was. Xx

I used to have to wake ele every 2-4 hours as she was small born with low blood sugars and jaundice. That was the advice from the hospital but When she started feeding more and gaining weight a few weeks later I stopped waking her to let her sleep better more than anything! If he's gaining weight with no complaints then he'll tell you when he's hungry! X

It's so annoying getting mixed views I was waking Amelia up every 3 hours to feed in the night as that's what I was told I then forgot one night and she slept 7hours i panicked told my midwife and got a right bollocking, so carried on for weeks kept reading on here not to wake a sleeping baby and finally stopped doing it about 5 weeks ago and so glad lol xx

Andrew is gaining great he put on 8oz in 6 days and the HV was impressed and told me to continue to wake him up he is now on 5Oz every 3/4 hours so from now On I'm just going to let him sleep during the night unless he stops gaining like he should xx

Let him sleep seeing as he's getting on so well. You don't want him to get into a routine of waking for a bottle in the night as you will have more of a problem weaning him off that. And take great pleasure in the sleep your getting!! ?. X

They will make up for it during the day feeds. Well my son did anyway x
