May be worth asking your GP to prescribe you some lactulose or something. I was on iron tablets when pregnant with my first and post baby also due to being anaemic and had to be prescribed something to help. Especially as I was stitched after an episiotomy so they didn't want me straining etc x

I was prescribed iron tablets during my pregnancy but I couldn't handle the side effects. I started taking Spatone instead. It's liquid iron which you mix with orange juice. It's a bit easier on your digestive system. It might be worth a try for you? c

I take mine with a glass of pure orange juice when I need them later in pregnancy. Add dried apricots to my diet and no need for laxatives. The orange helps your body absorb it apparently and means you're off them quicker too x

I lost alot of blood having my 3rd baby. My midwife wanted to give me a blood transfusion, my levels were less than half of what they should be. Told her no blood. O did get an iron transfusion(felt like a 90 yr old after) and was givin oron pills to take, she also gave a script for dulcase. It worked so good for me, its a stool softner. She also wrote me a script for zofran because the oron pills make me so sick.

Do you feel the anemia symtoms if you dont take your iron pills?

I do i get so out of breath and cant talk in full sentences, start getting really lightheaded and dizzy too.

Yes I'm exhausted to the point I can't keep my eyes open and I get really lightheaded and when I stand it's like I'm about to faint.. I had my little boy 2 weeks ago so I thought I would be ok to stop but I'm not xx
