Long road trip... So on June. 9th, I am driving to San Diego from Kansas with my 2yr old for my sons…

Tons of snacks and stickers. We drove 16 hours when the kids were 1 and 3 and those are the only things that kept them happy. Amazon has sticker activity books for less than $5. The entire backseat was covered in stickers but that's okay lol.

We drove 20 hours (stops included) from Deep South Texas to Colorado. Dd did fine, we drove at night so she slept most the time. I brought a bunch of snacks and water/ juice and toys to keep her entertained. Make sure you stop enough so she can stretch her legs. If she's old enough you cha get a car seat tray to she can color. When you're driving point stuff out to her and talk about your trip!

We did the same thing a couple years ago ... We drove from Albuquerque ,NM To San Diego .... We took our 7,6 and 2 year old at the time... We started our drive at 10 pm it was an 11 hr drive for us ... We just took books , dvd player lots of snacks and made quit a bit of stops for restroom and so the kids could stretch their legs ... It went well no melt downs ...

Oh and we also went in a 05 Cadillac escalade that had 100,000 miles on it... Just make sure the tires are in good condition get an oil change make sure you have a spare and any tools you might need so that way just in case you break down... Over all it wasn't bad and we didnt have any problems at all with our car... Good luck!

Good luck with your trip. And thank you to your son for his service to our country! I went to my best friends graduation from marine boot camp in South Carolina. It's an amazing experience to watch them. As for the main point of your post, id bring some snacks and maybe some kid music (if you can stand it!?)
