Why can't they stay little
I swear my oldest (12) is gonna give me a heart attack before I'm 40. He takes public transportation alone to camp which was a big step for me but we have a bus stop at the end of our street and it's only a 15-20 minute ride. He left the house this morning while I was sleeping without telling anyone. I get up around 5 and feed the baby, DH gets up at 6 for work and helps get DS1 ready, then I fall back asleep. I have my alarm set for 7:25am to make sure he gets to the bus on time by 7:45. Today when I got up he was already gone. We've told him multiple times to stop leaving the house without telling someone, but it's not sticking, I'm seriously at a loss. His behavior at camp is better than it has ever been, but at home and when he's at his father's house he seems to be regressing and becoming very defiant. We've even upped the amount of attention he gets and try to give him more freedom and independence, but nothing seems to work. I'm praying this passes cause he's breaking my heart. Ive tried talking to him heart to heart, but due to the ASD he has trouble with empathy and just sees it as him doing something wrong and withdraws. I'm seriously at my breaking point with him.

Its really tough, and scary too. I explained to him that its not about not trusting him, but just about how dangerous it is. Hopefully I got through.

one day he bolted into the street with 0 cares in the world! my heart dropped I was so scared! no safety awareness I about had a heart attack. also he's a fight risk at school so I can imagine him as a teen.

That's so terrifying. I wish I could give you hope on the running in the street but sadly I can't yet. I have to still hold his hand in parking lots.
What type of school does he attend? If it's a public/district school you should see if he is eligble to work with the school social worker about the fighting. That's one thing I'm happy to report is my son's temper calmed down with therapy both in school and private. I just wish we had started it sooner and didn't wait until the school made him go when he choked a kid and broke a smart board ? but it really has helped him with his anger.
