BF babies, solids, and pooping
BF babies, solids, and pooping
Jack is still breastfeeding. He gets 3 solid meals a day and lately he only poops once a week. I feel like he should be going more often. Idk what else to do to help him go. I give him something called Baby Move (organic prune juice and a prebiotic) every morning. And now I’ve added in a probiotic. He still drinks plenty of my milk and he’s been drinking more water during meals.

My son is also EBF. He poops every other day. He went 5 days once and it was bad, he couldn’t sleep well or take enough milk because of that. So now I try not to let him go longer than 2 days. I use 3 baby spoons of prune baby food(not the juice) usually HappyBaby brand and it works within few hours.

My son gets 2-3 meals a day, snacks in between and formula throughout the day (around 4-6oz every 4-6 hours) and he goes daily. And if he doesn’t go one day he’ll go twice the next day

Mine can still go numerous times a day, I have to limit bananas as they seem to bind her up and gets painful for her to poop! Does he struggle when he goes or is he fine xx

My daughter is the same still bf and she’s on solids but it’s been like this for a while with her only going poo once a week. Her pediatrician just said make sure she gets enough liquids and she does and use baby suppositories as needed. But if anyone else has any other recommendations to help her go more frequent please let me know.

We’re having the same issue, April. I was told to try apple juice mixed with water, high fiber purées (broccoli, peas, pears), a warm bath, tummy massage. Tried all of the above today. Will let you know if it works! ??

Thanks ladies. I’ll get some apple juice as backup. He went again today, so that makes it twice this week. That’s progress! I’ll try giving more high fiber foods.
I took him to the pediatrician the beginning of the week and she suggested cutting back on grains, but that hasn’t made a difference. She also recommended starting back a square one and only offering the same foods for a few days before adding something new. But that hasn’t helped either. I’ll keep trying whatever you guys suggest!
