GBS positive and induction

If your water breaks and contractions don't start on their own they will always induce you. Baby needs to be born typically within 24 hours due to risk of infection for anyone, regardless of whether you are GBS positive or not.

The only exception is pre-term with a slow leak rather than a complete break some doctors will attempt to monitor fluid levels and try to keep baby in as long as possible. If you are close to full term than they will definitely induce you after your water breaking.

I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow. And I'm pretty sure they did tell me that I would have to be induced if my water breaks and I'm not having contractions, but completely forgot the conversation. I do know that they won't do cervadil, which was originally my first option over pitocin.

I read that only 1 in 10 waters break before active labor.

Savvy- I didn't know that. I've been seeing a lot of posts of those that have had their baby and it seems a lot of them, their water broke before they went in. I'm very curious to see how my L&D goes! I haven't thought too much about it till now really. But I'm also the type of person to just go with the flow.

Hi Bamb. I'm also GBS positive and my doctor says if my water breaks then I'd have to go in right away even if I'm not having contractions. That was 2 weeks ago and my due date is this Saturday. I'm hoping baby J will show up soon! ??

What pp said. If your water breaks you should deliver within 24 hours because of the risk of infection. Mine did with my first and hours later I still hadn't started contractions so I was put on pitocin
