High blood sugar :(

I feel so guilty right now. I had 2 slices of pizza for dinner and my blood sugar was 180 ? I don't get it. I've eaten more pizza than that before and my numbers were perfect! I just told DH, noooo more pizza till after baby is here. I feel bad for putting baby boy through this. That's the highest my numbers have ever been :(

Do you have to report those numbers to your doctor? I know I'm about to be diagnosed with GD at 35 weeks. I told my doctor I was feeling sick after eating and he wanted me to test my sugars again for 4 days and email him the results..well some days I got up to the 150's only one hour post meals..he called me today and left a message to call him back so I know it can't be good! ? What did you drink when you ate your pizza? Someone once told me to drink a TON of water to flush things out and I swear every time I do that with something I ate bad it honestly has given me lower numbers. For example, one morning I ate a bagel with cream cheese and turkey, my number was 158. I had watered down juice with it. A day later I ate the same thing but drank three big glasses of water and my number was 126! How is that possible?! lol I don't get it either unless the water thing helps?

I do report them to my midwife. My numbers have been controlled except for maybe 5 times since i was diagnosed. The only things i drink are raspberry leaf tea and about a gallon of water a day. Idk why my numbers would be so off on a meal I've had before and passed two hours post meal. Maybe it's my hormones? I know those play a huge role in how numbers are. Maybe my hormones have changed? I really don't know. I just feel bad that it's so high ?

Yes I have heard the farther along we get, the harder it is to control the numbers! I can eat a TON of fruit and my numbers be low, but I can't eat a damn bagel? Lol. Don't feel bad, like you said there has only been a few times where your numbers are high and I'm sure baby is just fine. I know the guilt though! I too worry the same thing. It's been a few weeks since they told me my sugars was fine and I didn't need to test anymore, so I haven't been watching what I have been eating. I'm just worried about her being big or getting way too much sugar all these weeks when I should have been controlling it.

It could be worse now than before because gestational diabetes gets worse and worse with time, as the pregnancy gets further along the placenta makes stronger hormones that combat the insulin your body creates. Be careful, but I'm sure you and baby are doing just fine mama. We all need pizza sometimes!!!

I see an endocrinologist for my GD and optimal numbers are 95-120 while pregnant. Exercising after eating is the best and most

Efficient way to reduce the number, helping your body metabolize the sugars. Are you keeping a food log and controlling your daily carbs and sugar intake? I'm limited to 180g carbs daily. I use a lot of Adkins style food. Don't beat yourself up but remember you don't want the baby to have low sugars at birth. You can do it. And I get it. I want pizza too. A few more weeks.

Perhaps they need to reevaluate you and add insulin for the final weeks. I'm currently diet controlled but I have one more test tomorrow to determine if I will require insulin. But keeping my target between 95-120 is key. Regular diabetics can be up to 180.

Try whole grain English muffins with sauce and cheese as a substitution. I know it's so hard ❤️ my mom was the best at helping me find amazing alternatives for foods so I didn't feel like I was lacking. Hang in there

But seriously, 10 min on a stationary bike shortly after eating is all you need. It really really helps!

Eweis- I've had great numbers so far. I've only been above 120 five times since being diagnosed. And they are usually between 120-130 (except for 2 of the times they've been higher). I have been able to control it with diet and exercise, thankfully. I don't typically do white breads anyway (GD or not). They have me keeping track of everything and I write down what I've eaten so my midwife knows when she checks my log. She didn't seemed concerned at my last appointment with the few higher numbers I've had. But dang, I just felt so bad when it was 180! Yesterday I was back in my normal ranges for all of my meals. Three weeks left to go! I can do this

I don't know if I believe mine. I had a huge bowl of beans last night with 2 small sonic milk/slushes and OJ and 2 he post I was at 126! Yet I can eat a bowl of cheerios with raisins and milk and pbutter and be like 150....

I'm sorry about that. Is your A1C normal? They had me switch meters yesterday and compare. The other version she said she found to be more accurate to actual blood draws in the lab. My sugars were 10 numbers lower with the other one touch verio. I have several other medical concerns so that's why they have a specialist monitoring me, but my fast every night still showed a 10-15 number higher than normal increase (i take steroids and immunosuppressants for an autoimmune disease) so this fast/lab/fast/eat/lab I'm doing this morning should determine if I'll need supplemental insulin for the duration. They are already taking baby 8 days earlier but if I need insulin we will take baby even earlier. Low sugars caused my last baby to end up in the NICU so we are doing Any and all to avoid that route this time.

It's so frustrating. I hope it gets better and you didn't have a sudden change❤️❤️❤️

Try eating a salad with pizza it seems to really help my numbers a lot.

Hey girlie! You'll be ok! If it happened only once. I didn't read the comments but i made a mistake eating some waffle for breakfast and my number was 250! Im also on isulin 4 times a day.. I called right away (to see if i should give myself more insulin, she said no) and told my GD educator ad she said dont worry about it unless the numbers are that constantly. And told me to go walk (thankfully fam and i were going swimming and got the excersise) just avoid pizza till after:) I've been diagnosed since 7 weeks this pregnancy. I also had it my last pregnancy. But

You'll be ok:)
