10days pregnant
Hi everyone I just found out this morning at about 1am from the er that I was pregnant. I have to stop smoking I don't smoke that much, but I've read really bad things about quitting cold turkey about ladies having miscarriages and going in for their next appointment and not seeing a heartbeat. This is my first pregnancy and I'm scared idk what to do can you guys give me some advice on how to handle this? Do I quit gradually or what?

Not sure :( if you don't smoke much it should be easy for you to completely quit. Maybe use stop smoking aids, gum etc.

I smoked but the moment I found out I was pregnant I stopped! You can do it when you start getting the symptoms even the smell of smoke will make you wanna puke lol but if you do feel like you need/want one just think about your baby. Going cold turkey is hard but surely having a healthy pregnancy is all you can wish and hope for!

Ok let's say you smoke 5 cigarettes a day. Cut back to 4 a day for a week or so. Then the next week or so cut back to only 3 a day. The next week or so cut back to 2 a day. Then the next week or so cut back to 1 a day. The following week or so just try to have only 1 every other day until you've quit.

I would quit cold turkey. You're nlt far along. The most important things in pregnancy happen the first 8 weeks.

I would try to quit as quickly as I could.

That doesn’t make sense to me quitting cold turkey would cause a miscarriage. I can’t see how doing something to help the baby will cause a miscarriage but to each there own . Never had to worry about this as I never smoked a day in my life

Sadly miscarriages occur and there can be many reasons or no reason at all, they just happen. The best thing for a mommy to be to do is choose from day one a healthy road for her pregnancy, for her baby. Try to quit and have a good mentality about it. That you are strong/smart enough to say no to make that choice for your baby and hopefully it will stick long term as second hand smoke like smoking is harmful. The same with not drinking alcohol, or cutting down on coffee. Try not to rationalize an unhealthy lifestyle.

I quit, I bought the gum because the patches made me spot, I chewed the gum maybe two days and that was it. Haven’t smoked since.
