36 is considered preterm and 39 weeks (I think) is considered term.

Don’t they consider twins at term way earlier too? I know that’s different but still ?? idk my aunt was high risk and I’ve never heard of that

When I had my boys term was 37+w, but if I remember they narrowed it down to 39+w after more recent research. But I'm not sure how doctors classify it across the board...I just remember reading about anything 38w and under being preterm now.

I'm not sure if they classify it differently for high risk patients though. I had my son at 30w, we were shooting for 34w. Either are preterm I know.

The baby is still preterm but they aren't going to delay delivery longer

I understand that 39 weeks is term. but what I was confused about is just because she could go into labor at 36 weeks doesn't make it term because they say it's term. Its still considered pre-term. I just thought that was odd. I was like uh I don't think they can just go around changing what week is term.

I was high risk and they told me I had a high chance of going into PRE TERM labor at 32 weeks. They didn't consider it term just because that's when I could've had my baby. I didn't want to cause an argument but it definitely confused me.

My guess is that she is mixing up what they told her. They probably said pre term and she is saying term.

Maybe what she’s trying to say is that if she goes in to labor at 36 weeks they won’t stop it she probably understood it as term. My dr also told me if I was to go in to labor at 36 weeks he wouldn’t stop it it’s not term but it’s also not fatal as they see it I guess. I still wouldn’t be comfortable having a baby that early.

Okay I had 2 high risk pregnancies. Our goal with both was to make it to 36 weeks. Baby would still be pre term but for me, the goal was 36 weeks. Maybe that's what hey told her and she is just mixed up on the words.

With me my doctor said after 36 weeks, if you go into labor they don’t do interventions to stop it. It’s still preterm but I guess term enough to where they don’t worry too much?

My midwife said 37 weeks. When I had my DD 6 years ago it was also 37 weeks.
