Toddler with a binky
I need help. Dd turned 2 last month. I would really like to get rid of the binky soon. She's not super attached. She only uses it for bed time. But she throws a fit if she can't have it. How do I go about this? My concern is that ds is 6 mos and has a binky. I'm afraid she will try to take his if I take hers away. How can I get her to understand he has one but she shouldn't have one anymore? Should I wait a little longer?

I would use the binky fairy. Explain to her that the binky fairy came to take it away and instead she gets a new toy to pick out herself

Oh that is a tough one. My kids didn't like the Binky too much so I didn't have that issue but dd1 would take her sisters bottle when she realized she wasn't getting one for bed anymore. Strictly cup. One night dd2 starts screaming so I go in and dd1 took her bottle and gave her the cup. ? she was drinking formula like it was milk. Dd2 was not a happy baby. Lol. I just told dd1 that big girls use cups and babies use bottles. So now she takes her cup and only time she touches the bottle is to give it to me. Maybe that would work?

I can try that. I just feel with her being only 2 it's going to be tough. I mean she sees ds with his binky all the time. Hopefully she will understand eventually that she no longer can have one but he can. And some day he won't need one either.

My dd was SO attached to her dummy. A month before she turned 2 I cut little holes in all of them so everytime I gave it to her n she sucked on them she'll be like "uh oh mummy it's broken" n I'll be like "uh oh we better throw it in the bin" n she'll happily run to the bin to throw it away lol so everytime she asked for it, same thing happened. After about 2 or 3 days of her doing that (n a few meltdowns not gona lie) she got over it n never had once since.

We just threw them all away. When he'd cry for it we just told him they went bye bye. He was over it by Monday and we took them away Friday

Wait till she doesn't have any on her (or in her mouth lol), then take them away. Don't get them back out and don't let her see them. She will forget eventually.

I waited until dd was 3 so she understood better. Her birthday is December 1st and for like 3 months we told her she needs to give it to santa. So on Christmas Eve we wrapped it up and she put a bow on it and santa took it to give it to a new baby who needed it. She cried really bad that night but after that we just told her remember you gave it santa. She was upset but now at almost 4 she forgot that she ever had one unless she looks at pictures. Her cousin was born a month later after she got rid of it and she never went after it

My daughter was 2 and my ex insisted that she no longer have her pacifier. She started sucking her thumb and continues to do so when she gets tired...she'll be 11 in November. Lol.

My sister had this issue with my nephew but he was almost 4. She told him he can go to toys r us and pick out toys but he had to pay for the toys with his pacis. She did it once a week until they were gone. He really only wanted them at night but she would tell him the toy store was closed at night so they couldn't get them back and give him one of the toys he "bought" with his paci. He was sad for a while but eventually he got over it.
