Claustrophobic infant/toddler
So my daughter is 17mos. She had no problems with being swaddled as a new born. But around maybe 6 mos I noticed that anytime I'd put a shirt over her head to get dressed or wrap a towel around her after a bath she absolutely panics. Also long sleeved anything triggers her. She doesn't mind the car seat or elevators or small places. Its something. With her arms and legs and not being able to move. She goes into a full blown panic attack. She almost passed out because she couldn't get her arm out of the towel. I will be mentioning this to her pedi. I'm just curious if anyone else has dealt with this.

My son is like this with his clothes as well. Do you suffer from panic attacks or anxiety? I do and I feel like I might have given some of my traits to my son. I just tell him to relax so I can help him. It's easier once they understand what you're really saying. Now he will panic for a few seconds before calming down and letting me help him easier. I hope it gets easier for you guys.

I do have anxiety and so does dh. We haven't really panicked in front of her but I read something about those traits being hereditary too. I hope it gets better as she gets older and can understand us. Thank you.

My 7 month old is the same way. He's younger, so it may have something to do with his age, but he completely panics if anything covers his face, even for just a second. When changing shirts, he holds his breath and flails his arms and legs in such a panic, which makes the process even longer. I have horrible anxiety and I'm also extremely claustrophobic, so I also worry he may have inherited these traits. Sorry, I don't have any advice, but I don't think your child's reactions are uncommon!!
