My boyfriend and I have twins due in August, in June he and I will be together for 2 years. We live together and his daughter (from his marriage) who is 17 lives with us. Due to my age and hers she really only sees me as her dad's live in girlfriend and mother of her future sibilings (which she is excited about), it's not a bad way to see me, and I'm not complaining, just not always sure where that puts me. Not to mention while he and I were dating, we didn't get truly acquainted for a year, and have only lived together for 6 or 7 months.

Also, I would like to add I'm not trying to be a step parent to either, I know my age and theirs would make that neither rational nor beneficial. And I'm completely okay with that!
Also at the beginning I meant to say his *daughter* and I didn't get acquainted for a year after he and I started dating. Which is understandable and makes sense. Haha. I realize it read like he and I weren't acquainted haha??

I think a small gift or token of thought is acceptable on all fronts, especially since that’s just the type of person you are and you’re not trying to buy their love or any of that nonsense.

If your getting your SO a present I’d get her something small as well. And you can always post his son cards for holidays with a gift card inside for a food or drink place where he lives.
