reusing a breast pump?
So my boyfriend got a used medela in style breast pump for free, which seems awesome but it seems it might have been kept in a basement or garage for a little while as it has some outside debris on it (inside bag near pump face)... I.e. small pieces of leaves, dust, ect. I'm not quite sure if it works yet, but would you use it if you vacuumed the bag and bought replacement tubing and flanges etc for it?? Or would you try to get a new one.

Sometimes you can get a new beast pump through your insurance company depending on which type you have !
But if not there are plenty of ways to sterilize the one he got and clean it out ? you can also order new parts for it that seem to be too worn if you want and that would still be cheaper than buying a whole new machine

I think it can depend on what kind of breast pump determines if you should use a used one. I don’t really have much experience with them, but that’s what my friend explained to me. I think ones that you can replace the lines for are the ones you can use. Manual pumps should be fine to use also.

Get a new one. Medela pumps are open system witch makes them single user only.
Ask your ob how to get a free pump thrpugh your insurance. They'll write you a prescription and your insurance company will tell you where to pick it up from.
