You would only need it if you need help with nipple stimulation (but a person doing it is better) to help labor progress, or if you end up with a premie in the NICU and need to send milk

They provided a great breast pump and new containers and tubing for it at my hospital. This way if you wanna pump and store to give to the nursery, if you put baby there for any time, you can.

The hospital I delivered at with my first gave me a manual medela breast pump which was nice

I have mine ready to go and will probably leave it In the car unless i need it to help milk production

Most hospitals have hospital grade pumps for your use which are better than most personal use pumps. I would take advantage of their equipment. Less stuff for you to pack.
