Did they compare it with your blood draw results? That’s more accurate. The NT is just a screening not a diagnosis. Do they suggest further testing?

@cams, I switched ultrasound docs because he told us it didn’t make any sense for us to do the blood test and was pushing for cvs or amino and we didn’t feel comfortable so I called my ultrasound doc I had with my first and they said to come in and do a 16 week scan and we can go from there and blood tests if needed

@happymommyxo, hmmmm he sounds like he’s just wanting to do invasive testing from the get go. I think the blood tests have to be done between a certain time period. I want to say 10-13w? Can’t remember exactly. But that test combined with NT really gives a good idea of what’s going on. It would concern me if my doc didn’t want to combine that data.

@cams, yeah he made us feel like he was mad bc he was like I thought this was going to just be a 2 minute convo and now it’s not and I have ppl waiting etc he scared us and didn’t deliver the news with care and comfort, like we wanted options and non invasive tests but he made it seem like we had no choice

@happymommyxo, I would be finding a new doctor. He sounds like an asshole and I def wouldn’t feel comfortable with seeing him for the remainder. Especially if you do need more testing. Find someone more patient and compassionate.

@jacob_mommy, the NT scan to measure fluid begins the neck has to be done during a certain time frame. 19w is too late. You probably opted out of it or it wasn’t offered

@cams, exactly and that’s what I did after 2 days of crying all day and searching the internet I called the company I had with my first and they actually told me they got a lot of complaints about that other doctor so I’m going for the 16 week scan

@happymommyxo, my son was measuring thicker with his nt scan the doc was also rude with the delivery of the news but after blood test and some extra ultrasounds everything came back completely fine.

@jacob_mommy, they didn’t measure the neck to screen for downs, etc. it would have been too late.

@jacob_mommy, right. Most of the time they combine both the blood test and NT to access the odds for a genetic defect. I’m just saying you wouldn’t have had the baby’s neck measured (NT scan) because it was too late for you. You just had a regular ultrasound. Probably the routine 20 week anatomy scan.

@mamiforlife, that’s encouraging to hear! I’m really trying to stay away from invasive tests, I’m going to see what the 16 week scan shows and I know they offer blood test then so I can probably do it as backup before any other testing

Yes, my son had 2/3 of the markers and was fine.
