Scenario
Baby sitter gave 2 weeks notice. Ends up quitting via text 2 days before end date. Made parent leave work 4 hours early 3 days before end date. Parent only owed sitter pay for this last week. How would you handle this situation? Parent misses 2 1/2 days of work, financially cannot afford to miss work. Pay for 2 1/2 days, not at all or full week? Can sitter take parent to small claims for $60 if decided not to pay?

I would only pay for the days she babysat and I'd tell her don't count on a good reference from you. I think going to court for 60$ is ridiculous and probably would cost her more just to file a small claims

I would pay for the amount of time she worked. It sucks that she screwed the parent over, but she still did take care of the child those days prior.

Is she a friend or a business?

I would pay her for the time she worked.

Oh and she was paid under the table.

I'd pay them for the days they watched my kids. Would you like to go to work and not receive pay?

I'd pay only for what she actually worked. She'd be crazy to take you to court for the days she didn't work. A judge would not rule in her favor and may just suggest you counter sue for lost wages.

she wouldn't go to small claims court over $60. i doubt anyone would even for $100.
when i was working an hour away everyday & had a family friend babysitting DD (who was 6mo at the time), she started to make it a habit of texting me to leave work early because she had to go help a family member nearby. i left 4 times early so she could go. she got paid half of those days. but when she tried it a 5th time, i asked her if she could take DD with her (since i left a car seat & everything she needs for drives).
leaving early or missing days effects work & we could get fired.

Is there any kind of signed contract? If not, I would pay for the amount of time the sitter babysat only. Not sure why there wasn't alternate care set up already though. If the babysitter only left 2-3 days early then the parents knew they were going to need alternate care over a week and a half before that. Could the parents not call the new sitter or daycare and ask if the kids could start early?

Pay for 2 1/2 days she worked.

No because you have proof of her quitting on you via text last minute even after she put in her two weeks. Pay her for the days that she worked and that's all if you guys didn't have a contract then she can't even prove anything in court.

It depends, was there a written or verbal agreement? Is this person being payed under the table, or is it a LLC?
