My sister....

I'm so worried about her. It breaks my heart she doesn't reach out for help when it's really needed. She has been jobless and doesn't have money. She's been feeling sick a lot lately and I guess coughed up blood! So her friend made her go to hospital. They ended up doing tests and a CT scan. Found blood clots in her lungs. Prescribed blood thinner and released her and made a follow up appointment. She had to pay a $40 copay for the followup and since she doesn't have money SHE CANCELLED IT! The latest she was supposed to go was Wednesday. It's now Saturday. And since she went she FAINTED in the bathroom severely bruising her face. I'm so stressed out and worried for her health. I'm trying not to over react and worry myself into a panic attack. I don't know how serious it is... please pray for her health. Any one have a similar experience with this kind of health issue? I want to take her to the hospital now. But I'm at work and she's not texting me back. I heard all if this from my other sister just 30 minutes ago. All started last weekend.

I haven't had any issues with my health like this but you should definitely reach out to her after work and do what you can for her. If it were me, I would cough up 40 bucks for a co pay to make sure my sister didn't have any under lying issues other than blood clots in her lungs. Family takes care of family. She's in my prayers

Can you or any other family member offer to pay the $40 so she can go to the appointment?

We totally would! Thats what frustrates me. I have 5 siblings, mom and dad. We all work but her. Shes been trying to work but can't since shes been so sick. It frustrates us that she didn't ask. She is the youngest in the family at 24 and has had a hard time with money. So I think she was afraid to ask any of us for it. But its not a late phone bill, its a copay to help her with her health! Of course we would take her and pay her copay to make sure shes ok. I'm trying not to cry because I'm so worried for her. I can't imagine not having her here.

She should qualify for Medicare, why isn't she on it? I would have an intervention, sit her down and explain all this to her. She's literally gambling with her life, and maybe doesn't realize that her family is so willing to help

That's a good idea. We have all borrowed her money before and she had a really hard time paying it back. So maybe she was embarrassed to ask? Not sure. But none of us want to see her risk her health over that. Thanks for that suggestion. Do you know if it's normally for them to release her when she has clots?

It is normal to be released however she needs to follow up and take a blood thinner (usually coumadin) for at least a couple months afterwards. This is a serious condition that she could die from if the clots get bigger or move. She needs to follow up! Give her the money if need be for the $40.
