Drink, but have food for your baby when you do. Get some pumped and then follow the nursing and drinking guidelines

If you drink right after baby nurses, by the next feed you're ok. I think it takes two hours for a shot(2oz) of 40% alcohol to leave your milk. Most newborns nurse every 2-3 hours. Beer is usually only 6-8% percent alcohol so you'll be fine. If you feel fine to drive, you're fine to nurse.

Dr Jack Newman is a well respected breastfeeding educator. He has studied and found the biggest danger to a newborn is a mother too tipsy or drunk to prowling care for the baby, not the passage of alcohol in milk. There is .09% alcohol in lame juice which is about equivalent to the alcohol content in milk after a drink.

Safest to drink WHILE feeding because it gives the longest time before the alcohol is absorbed at all.

Just be safe, keep an ear out for baby, and enjoy your beer. Bonus is the yeast and hops may up your supply, though that's usually with darker beers.

Stupid state. I can only get good beer at the liquor store (not making an extra trip, wish alcohol was sold in supermarkets like other states!)

I'm in Utah too! I hate all the ridiculous restrictions about alcohol in this state.

Try going on the La Leche League website. It's all about breastfeeding. I would definitely do your own research before drinking and breastfeeding. You can also call your baby's pediatrician and they can give you some valuable information.

I heard somewhere that we're the only state with drive-through liquor stores. Blew my mind, there's two just in my town.

Texas has drive through liquor stores. You can even get ready made frozen drinks to go. Of course, you can't drink them until you get to wherever you're going.

If youre okay to drive you are okay to drink. Drink whatever you want, just pump before hand so youll have something to feed lo in case you are worried about the alcohol content. Pumping and dumping is unneccessary.

You can get alcohol testing strips to see if there's still alcohol still present that way your my pumping and dumping any more then you should. They're at baby's Rus
