fractured rib?

Was in a car accident Monday... I have a painful lump on my rib about where the seat best was. I don't see the doctor until Thursday, I know they can't do much for it if I have one. Any of you experienced one before? I'm 29 weeks and it says 6-10 weeks to heal... kinda scared it won't because baby moving

Not while pregnant. I had a seizure almost a year ago and fell into a bench and broke three ribs. They've healed but I get pain in them now months later.

The best thing I can suggest is to keep dosed up on pain killers, of course you can't take certain ones or you don't want to, but at least keep topped up on paracetamol and don't skip a dose because it's hard to keep pain under control when it's bad and the pain gets out of hand. I've heard you can take co-codamol, maybe you can take one of them when you wake up and then just paracetamol for the rest of the day? Talk to your midwife tho because I obviously can't say if you can or can't take it.

They can't put compression on it, but you could try icing the area with peas and then change to a warm water bottle. Ice for swelling (dont take ibuprofen) and hot water bottle to relax the muscles. The warmth should relax them because I'm sure their feeling tight r/n and uncomfortable.

Chest injury exercises are a must. This is practicing deep breathing and expanding the chest wall. Only do this if the pain isn't too bad. Make sure you sit up and do the breathing though, and support the sore area with your hand over it.

Posture. Trying not to slump on one side to stop your ribs from hurting may help,I know it's uncomfortable to keep a good posture while having broke your ribs, but leaning on one side and like holding the sore area can make the pain worse because your straining over one side, it can cause spasms.

No heavy lifting! Nothing heavier than say half a bag of sugar. You really don't want to agrivate your injury. I did and I regretted it instantly.

Plenty of rest. Ribs are the hardest to heal because they are constantly moving and can take longer than 8 weeks to heal so you have to look after yourself. Especially while pregnant.

You should have received a chest injury care pamphlet before leaving hospital but if not go to the NHS website (I know it's British but it's full of information ) or request for one.

Good luck momma I'm sorry your experiencing this! Even if it is bruised you can't be sure it's not broken because I doubt they will have an xray while your pregnant. I only had an xray for mine because one side of my lung was silent.

Thanks for the info. I'm definitely going to take it easy. Kinda makes me nervous thinking I may have fractured a rib. I am such a busy body so it's no easy to slow down.

So it's not a fractured rib... it's a cyst! I have another on my left breast. I have an appointment to get an ultrasound on them. The accident aggravated it I guess.. wish me luck! Or pray is benign.
