TDap/ pertussis What are your thoughts on getting the vaccine for pertussis while pregnant?

I got it with both. I had whooping cough when I was about 11 years old and it sucked. I got it from my sister who was only 1 at the time and it was much harder on her. She had to have medicine through an inhaler that she hated and the cough just sounded terrible. I can't imagine how it'd be for a newborn.

I've gotten it with my last 2 pregnancies. Pertussis has shown up in my oldest daughter's school and I don't want my kids getting it.

If I wasn't allergic to it I so would have gotten it. As it is, I have to be very careful with my baby until he can get the vaccine.

Got them both too happy I did, also getting an upcoming vacine for whooping Cough too?

I get the booster every pregnancy it's been a problem in my area

Hell no. Not putting that s*** in my body. Everything I do gets to my child.

Had it with my first and my second pregnancies. No issues. We even asked grandparents to get it. If you want to be around my baby then you have to be protected.

@christiananoelle - Exactly. If you get the vaccine while pregnant you're giving your baby some protection from a possibly fatal illness that they would otherwise have to wait 6 months to get themselves. It sucks having to be constantly worried about every bug someone brings home because my baby has no protection yet.

I got it for both pregnancies. I had whooping cough as a baby and it nearly killed me.

It's mandatory I thought.

My husband got it months before baby was born. I waited and was vaccinated the day after I gave birth.

We don't have any other children and

I only allowed my daughter to come in contact with a small amount of people(all who had been vaccinated) until she had her 1st round of shots. So the risk of her getting whopping cough was minimal.

I think u should get it while pregnant or u can get it the day u have ur baby that's what I did, my daughter still got pertussis when she was 2 months we were at the hospital for 1 week it sucked seeing her sick and struggling to breath. Its idiotic when people say they wouldn't get the shot cus they don't want to put that in there babies body but ur helping itself and them
