Don't do that to that poor child. If he wants to call you mom, let him. You're letting hex have way too much power over your household.
You can tell him not to discuss your household with his mom. In a backwards way, he may do it because he knows it passes his mom off. Kids are smart and it may be how he gets back at her for all the ish she's put him through. I feel awful for the poor kid.

Why do you care what upsets her... your DH is right. Her opinion does not matter she is barely around your SS is proud of his family telling him to not talk about you makes it seem like he needs to keep you a secret. I agree let her be crazy she is irrelevant and clearly your SS is voicing that without saying it directly.
I was upset when I wrote this. Obviously I'll let SS call me whatever he wants and I won't take that away from him. I just wish Hex could see I'm not trying to upset her I just want what's best for SS.
Your husband is right. The child's biological mom def is mad because you are who she can't be right now. Fear gets in our way of standing up most times when we really need to. But if that child is willing to call you mom on your own. ..you are doing something absolutely right. Keep up the good work?
