We just found out that DS 5 months is completely blind and probably has been since birth. We've been trying to get insurance for months so he could see a pedi but we couldn't wait any longer. Yesterday we took him to the ER for what we thought was colic since he's been screaming in pain only to be told that there's something wrong with his eyes. Today we saw a specialist and they want to operate immediately to try and restore his sight. Please pray for us.

Good luck!!! You might be able to get insurance free through the state for your son that would cover all costs. If not today, then within 3 months and they'll pay back costs from 3 months. I'm so sorry to hear that!!!! I hope that the surgery goes well!! If they think they can fix it with surgery, it's probably a hematoma or something that's compressing his optic nerve. If so, maybe he will be able to see! Keep us posted!!

Thank you everyone! He had his surgery on Friday and it went beautifully. They said he had congenital bilateral nuclear cataracts which they removed. They believe he will be able to see once we remove his eye shields this Friday and recover his glasses. He may develop secondary glaucoma so he will be put under anesthesia again next month in order to check his eye pressure. As of right now it's completely normal.
They believe this is all genetic since I was born with these same issues. Luckily I can drive and am completely fine so we are confident that he will be as well.
