I Give Up
On my electronics fight. I can't keep monitoring SS. Regardless of our beliefs SS just wasn't raised without electronics. DH was always working. Hex sticks him in front of a tv so she doesn't have to deal with him. Her mom used to interact with him but his attitude has become so atrocious that even she just puts on movies all day. Mil does the same thing. She tries but even she is worn out.

I feel your pain! The minute ss9 comes over he parks himself in front of the tv and doesn't move unless i ask him to do something!

How old is he?
Ive been with my husband since my now 15 & 16 yr old stepboys were about 4&5. All they ever did, literally, was watch tv and play video games. It was pointless for them to come over, visit whatever you wana call it. All they did was make messes, not clean up after themselves and stare at a tv screen day & night, not interacting with anyone. From what they told me, its all they did at their other house too. It irritated me to no end. It took yrs but by the time they were around 10 I finally took the tv and gmes out of their bedroom and limited their time to 2 hours a day, in the family room. And they could only have it if we didnt hve plans to go do something altogether (I have 4 kids with husband) and they had completed their chores for the week (cleaned up bedroom, the bathroom they use and vacumm one area of the house that they frequent and any homework). It was not easy or stress free by any means. My husband is a big tv watcher himself. And i always felt like i was doing something wrong by trying to better my stepkids, parent them, when they werent actually mine. But also having kids of my own-same rules needed to apply to all kids in the house.
It got through to them. My kids love spending time with their big brothers. The big guys, even at this age would much rather come tell me about recent things theyve done and such & play with their younger siblings, help out, go with us to do things and just spend the small amount of time they are here actually being with us. They are the most awesome teenage boys.

There were definetly fits and fighting for their tv time and laziness. And always wanting to be entertained when they werent allowed to have all the tv they wanted. Especially the younger one. Told him to find something to do. Tons of toys, bikes, walk to the park, go in the bckyard etc etc. It was NOT EASY !!!!!!!?
