When I brought Alisa home from the hospital they gave me some mineral oil. Here's the deal though .... I dk what it is and I'm not sure how to use it.... they didn't tell me and the nurse slipped it in the diaper bag without my knowledge. Does anyone know how to use it and what its used for??

I give DS mineral oil in his bottles once a day before we found out he was allergic to milk. He would get so constipated. But he was also over 1. I don't know what else mineral oil would be used for

To help you poop! It's used as a laxative. It is also used for hemorrhoids. Other than that no idea. Not for baby but for you!

Please don't put mineral oil in a babies bottle, they can aspirate it. My son had severe constipation issues as a baby and it was recommended by one doctor. When we changed providers and I told the new Dr, she about lost her s*** on me. Its very dangerous.

We use it to lube up our hands when we pull lambs and to stop bloat when the sheep get into the grain. Lol But you can use it for constipation...maybe she put it in the bag for YOU and not baby

I was told I could use couple drops of it in babies ears to dissolve the extra ear wax. I didn't feel comfortable with that though so I never did it. It was suggested by a pedi by the way .

The nurse at the hospital told us it was for baby. To help remove leftover vernix from baby's skin. It worked wonders! Pediatrician said to put it on my son after baths to help his skin retain moisture, he was super scaly before. My son enjoys the rub down after his bath.I like that for about 24-48 hours poop doesn't stick to his butt, so he's much easier to clean!

I don't think it was for me. My dd was in the nicu for a month and I was prescribed colace(sp?) I got it when we picked her up. I thought it might be for cradle cap.. but she doesn't have that... maybe I'll call the hospital in the morning and ask them about it. Thank you for all the replies. :)
