They are expensive but they really meant a lot to me growing up. I love those dolls and cherished them. I can't wait to build dd's collection!

Little fun fact my Aunt wrote all the Addy books! But apparently they want to discontinue Addy because it's not PC to talk about slavery ?

Idk I think they want the series to be more fun and light hearted. The original American girl dolls had actual historically significant events tied in to their stories, from slavery to war. I guess kids don't want to hear about history anymore, but yeah it was really cool having my aunt be a author we got to go to plays and stuff when I was younger and I got all the dolls.

That's really cool @filterless! I had Josephina and loved reading her books. I thought the point of American Girl dolls was to show young girls overcoming obstacles during real historical events?? They were supposed to be empowering to little girls... I hate how sugar coated everything has to be now

Are they really? I have a collection of them from my child hood and was also gifted a few more to have ? I want to pass them down to my daughter as well. That sucks I loved reading all the stories as a child. Maybe I will have to find all the old books to save for DD

I really wanted the Samantha doll as a kid because she had my name lol, but we couldn't afford the big doll so my parents bought me the mini doll and I never opened it, she is still in her little box with the plastic still on it lol.

Ladies keep your dolls they will be worth a lot one day! I wouldn't suggest you let your kids play with them, they are already collectibles keep any outfits you have too. People still want the originals I have at least 6 dolls in storage not to mention my book collection. If it's in a box DONT OPEN IT.

I think Costco here had Samantha a couple of weeks ago. I don't know anything about American Girl Dolls, but I know there was a couple of ladies freaking out "they have Samantha!!!". Ha ha.

I always wanted Molly and I never got her ? I remember as a kid I would tell my mom and my great aunt (who was a doll collector) how much I wanted that doll. My great aunt got confused and thought it was my cousin who said she wanted Molly and not me. For Christmas that year my cousin got her and not me ? I'll never forget that. My cousin was two years older than me and didn't even like dolls ?
