If you do the right information and answer the questions correctly it is very accurate. My car dealership did a credit check on Me and it was the same as it was on credit karma

It can lag behind a bit at times but it's pretty accurate.

Doesn't your credit score go down the more you check it, or am I totally making that up?

You can check it all you want. It goes down when you have creditors check it. Such as applying for loans and credit cards. Too many inquiries makes it drop.

It does change everytime you check it so don't like check it everyday. Only if you absolutely need to.

That makes total sense. I was always so worried about checking it myself because I thought it would go down, but this is good to know!

I have the credit karma app and check mine frequently. I have a bit of an obsession.

@smyers I'm obsessed with checking it too and trying to get it higher because I'm a money freak. So this entire time I thought it was one thing and then my SO (works at a car dealership) did a credit check and it ended up being 58 points higher then what credit karma said. Which obviously was exciting but now I'm starting to question the site lol.

There's 3 different credit bureaus and they can all be different scores, ours are usually pretty close but not the same. I'm not sure if credit karma only gives 1 score or an average of all 3, but that could be why it's different.

Mine was 30 Points lower on CK.

Credit Karma gives 2 of the 3 scores. Most car dealerships/loan officers/etc look at all 3 scores and choose the middle score to go off on. For example, if your 3 scores are 644, 719, and 740 than the car dealership/etc will go with the 719 score. This can be diff from credit karma because that site may not be showing the 719 score. Plus credit karma is just an average of your score...not always your actual score.
