Aibr lending "friends money"

I would ask your husband if he is okay mentioning it as he's the one who lent the money. If he is, I don't see it being rediculous to say 'before you head off to fla, there is the matter of the money we lent you - would we be able to get that back by ________ (whenever)'

If she doesn't, I'd say let it go and just disconnect from that 'friend' or maybe small claims if you really want to. It wouldn't be worth it to me but it's an option you have.

I don't think you're being ridiculous at all. I learned a long time ago though that the best way to preserve friendships and family ties is to never lend anyone money that I can't afford to just give them. If I can't give it, I just tell them I don't have it to lend. If I can give it, I do (depending on the actual need involved). That way I am happy if they pay it back and not disappointed or hurt if they don't.

Thanks ladies. I was just questioning myself. Haha I would never have my hubby say anything to her cause he doesn't like her to begin with. We had the money to lend and don't really need it back but now it's the principle of the matter more so then the money. I'm gonna go into the convo very nicely and see how it turns out. I'm ok with letting go of the friendship cause she's nothing but drama and sad to say doesn't bring anything to the friendship. Has been this way for over 10 years now. Thanks again. I don't lend money or hardly anything because of that... If they are really close friends and family I will but if not close then I won't... I will buy them food, or whatever but won't loan them money...m

I almost lost a friendship over money. I loaned a "friend" $500 because she couldn't cover her bills. Mind you, I was 19 years old, in college, and working minimum wage. I literally saved my ass off to even have that money. But she desperately needed it. So, two months later she comes crying to me because she spent a ton of money on a gym membership and got into another financial bind. I was livid. We got into a huge fight because she owes me that money first and then she blows it on a gym membership and gets into deeper debt. It was ridiculous. She couldn't wrap her mind around why I was so ticked off.

Omg that's crazy. I wouldn't have lent her the money if we didn't have it. You are a much better person then me lol.

Update. She leaves for fla on sat night. We left it as she would pay in $100 dollar increments. For me I'm not that concerned about losing the friendship cause she's a pain in the a** friend lol.

You should never lend people money. They never pay it back. Just forget about it. You'll never get it. Also you should tell your husband that he shouldn't give money away without talking to you

No it was my friend that we lent money to. I asked him for it. I'm a sahm. So it's technically his money.

Well if you say it's technically his money then why do you care? I am a sahm but it's our money. Not just his.

No it is our money. Just saying I don't make money so technically it is his but we share everything. I really don't care about that money cause he makes great money it's just the principle of lending people money.

In the future, if you ever loan someone money that you don't exactly trust, make them sign a piece of paper stating the day, how much, when they'll pay back, etc. And if they don't pay it back take them to court! I don't understand how people can be so selfish to just take money from someone.

Totally true she's a very selfish person so I'm not surprised. There will be no more lending money to people for me lol

I would never lend money out to a friend that has no means of paying me back if u don't have means to pay someone back then don't ask for money it sounds like she took advantage of u that's the worst too when u let someone borrow money then u see them spending it on all these nice things and they have no intention of paying u back

Never lend money with the intentions of being paid back. There's a reason they don't have money to begin with. If you can afford it and WANT to GIVE it to them, then do so. But you'll end up disappointed if you expect something back.
