21 wk scan....cervix shortening and funneling
Had my scan today and babies are doing great My cervix on the other hand is not doing well. My cervix went from 4.2cm 2 weeks ago to now 2.1 and funneling. I am scheduled for a cerclage this weekend. And I am freaking out. I am worried that by being home the next few days things can get worse. When it comes to my babies I would have liked to have the procedure done asap. Anyone else have this? A waiting period? And did the cerclage help?

Also is it an outpatient procedure?

I had it done with my singleton. My cervix was much shorter and I was dilated to 1cm so they did mine straight away and I had to spend the night to be monitored. It is sometimes outpatient though. It definitely helped. Got my daughter to 32 weeks and i probably would have lost her if I hadn't gotten it. Good luck mama!

I had this same problem at 22 weeks. My cervix went from 2.5cm to 1.5cm in a week. I was also 1cm dilated but with no funneling. My doctor didn't want to do cerclage; it provided more risks than benefits for me and my boys. She gave me a pessary and progesterone to thicken my cervix instead. I'm not sure if this is an option for you but its working for me. I will be 27 weeks on Sunday and my cervix is lengthening. The pessary has to be cleaned weekly and isn't pleasant to insert, but it is non surgical (no waiting period, no recovery time) and not at all uncomfortable once in place. Best of luck to you!! As hard as it is, try not to stress out... It affects our cervix!

Thanks ladies, I will update you all on how Friday goes. A pessary was never mentioned as an option for me. I will be sure to ask on Friday though

I had this done as emergency with me son and each subsequent pregnancy it definitely saved my children since I lost one child at 18 weeks. Because of incompetent cervix. I now have to do right at 14 weeks in each pregnancy
and have vag us every week
