L-arginine, FET tips
Please did anyone take L-arginine to help with implantation during embryo transfer? I read about it and wanted some reviews if to take it for FET.

You know I’ve heard of Royal Jelly but not sure how good it is. Or Pineapple core?
Lots of promise with acupuncture too. That one makes sense due to increasing blood flow.
I also have read about studies that showed laughing within 15 minutes of transfer increases chances of implantation. I’ve seen lots of ladies take my advice on this one!! Well, makes sense to me! It makes you feel good but is also relaxing, and most of all, it probably squishes the embryo in place where your doc places it.
I have found a heat pad applied when I feel a cramps coming on seems to relax the muscles. My RE said it’s fine but I’ve also heard others say not to. So I guess choose what feels right to you. I prefer minimizing cramps that I know will expel my baby over the rising temp concerns that a heat pad can bring. I found the critical danger point for pregnant women is 103 degrees. That’s why hot showers or hot tubs/saunas are bad. But a heat pad would not raise your core temp that high so that’s why I chose to go with it. I practically lived with that thing on my feet too, I was always so cold!
Oh! Keep your body warm. Wear socks and keep your belly warm as well. I think this mostly deals with circulation. Cold= less circulation.
Also, don’t lie around all day. Don’t do anything strenuous but live your life!
Oh! When I felt a sneeze come on, I sat up and leaned forward and lighted contracted my abs so the sneeze would not affect uterus.
I’ve read an Australian study published by Oxford journals that recommended sex before egg retrieval and after embryo transfer. But since most RE’s recommend pelvic rest until OB ultrasound this goes against that recommendation. For me, I had sex the next day. The sperm presence in the uterus is proven in multiple studies to help with implantation by preparing the uterus. Like helping your body not reject the embryo that is well, a foreign entity. At the very least you should have sex the day before embryo transfer! That won’t affect anything and it could help! I wanted to share this so you can make your own decision. I struggled with what to do but in the end, I think it helped me. The main issue with sex is that the embryo could be moved due to orgasmic spasms. I mitigated this by having a heat pad near and applying it for a few moments until I felt my uterus calm down. I also couldn’t find a lot of supporting documentation or studies that proved pelvic rest helped. The closest study I could find was where they tracked uterine spasm activity during the transfer itself and the more activity the less chance of success. However, this makes sense as the embryo is just being placed so if it’s moving around it could not implant properly. I should add I had very thin lining. Only 6mm and it worked for me. I’m an analyst and my DH is a psychiatrist so we thought it through.
We did have a mini scare for a while when DH broke out all over his body! We finally figured out it was the vaginal suppositories of progesterone that he was allergic to! ?
Oh, and stay hydrated. Like this also makes sense. The more moisturized you are inside the more baby making fluid you make!!! Also, make sure you eat iron rich food like spinach. Helps with making blood.
This one is not proven, but I think minimizing foods that cause inflammation can’t hurt. That’s why some REs prescribe steroids. But I dunno, Tumeric? It helps with joints. This is anecdotal but it makes sense to me. Just like too much sugar would not be good.
I think my biggest recommendation is to stay calm, relaxed and happy. Don’t let anything stress you out. Let everything go. Watch happy or funny movies. Stay positive. The more non flight or fight your body is, the more your body will receive the embryo. You know, make your body receptive. ?. And no matter what you do to prepare, it’s in God’s hands so LET GO!!!
I wish you the best!! ❤️
Ok, I think that’s all.

After 3 failed fresh cycles I just had my first frozen cycle. After my last failed cycle I wanted to try something else and I went to see a naturopathic doctor. A blood test determined I had high thyroid which I never knew before. As well as thyroid medication For 4 months I had been taking L-argine 6 tablets (600mg each), 5-mthf, strest vegicaps by st francis, 600mg of co q10, N-Acetyl Cysteine 900mg, high dose of prenatal, vit d with omega 3. And regular acupuncture. Closer to the cycle I had to stop some of them. I just got my BFP and Currently still taking coq10 and 5-mthf and prenatal.
He told me L-Arginine helps thicken your lining as well as make it more receptive for the embryo. I stopped taking that on cycle day 10 of the treatment cycle.
With all these supplements I felt so much calmer as the months went by. My migraines reduced, and I has a lot energy, I was advices to keep busy and do cardio workouts. I started dance classes and basketball.
Before you start any supplements I would say go see someone, because that way they can provide you the correct dose to take and adjust as needed. When is your frozen transfer?

@ inanii: I found by research that l arginine was good to take but my acupuncturist never mentioned or recommended it so was why I was wondering if someone else took it. But when I asked her last week she said I can take it but to stop it whenever I start to take progesterone so that makes sense what what you said. She said 1000mg 2X/day. Just curious if someone else took it. Thanks
@ lcubed: such a nice piece. Thanks

@ inanii just saw the question. My frozen transfer is supposed to be this April. Am waiting on pgs and AF to come after egg retrieval.

Hi everyone please advise.
My RE is of the opinion that I do not need blood clotting test, he said cos I have never heard failed pregnancies and he doesn't see no reason for him to test me for it unless I insist then he will.
Please how do you know if you have blood clotting disorder and how is d test done? It presents it like it was unnecessary and might delay my FET but at the same time, it will be sad to find out later that I have it and could have been prevented.

It’s just a blood test and it shouldn’t delay anything! If you want it then you should get it. My RE put me on blood thinners and I’ve never had a failed pregnancy
Daisy·
Thanks. Think I may just insist on doing it . Just that DH was still saying why would I insist if RE is of the opinion that I don't need. But I have realized you have to just be on it to make things work for you!

My RE is of the same idea. I can see his point because he says the blood clotting tests are inconclusive and even if the blood tests come back not in the normal range, he said diagnosis is inconclusive. Treatment is usually blood thinners like aspirin.
Having said all of this, I asked for it since I’ve had 3 losses of 4 babies but mine came back fine. I had less clotting agent than normal which is fine for our purposes. So I don’t see any reason to not do it.
I have read on here that some folks had issues using blood thinners so maybe that’s the fear of taking unnecessary meds that could cause more problems than solve.
I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you. But do what will make you most relaxed and happy. And I’m all for self-advocacy! ?

Thanks Lcubed. Just found out that my insurance would cover it so I might just as well do it to keep my mind relaxed and happy as you said.
